This Is Why Your Baby Drools So Much
Babies drool and we all know that. But generally, some babies drool more than others. But hey, what is drooling by the way? Drooling simply refers to the unintentional and continuous dripping of saliva (or any other substances for that matter) from the mouth. Drooling is quite a messy situation for the parents with loads of laundry in the making. But thanks to bibs, babies’ clothes can stay dry throughout the whole day.  But exactly why do babies drool so much, in the first place? I mean, what could be the reason for this excessive salivation? The two major causes of drooling in babies are:
Teething
Growth and development

Causes of drooling
Teething
One of the common causes of drooling in babies is teething. But you may say” my baby is just three months old and he has not started teething yet but he  drools so much”. Generally, babies start teething between six to eight months. However, most babies begin drooling almost non-stop at about three months. So what could possibly be the reason why your baby drools so much at just three months old?
The reason is this: even though it usually takes about six to eight months for the teeth to emerge through the gum, it starts its upward journey a lot earlier. Usually, at three months, you would notice that your child is drooling excessively, soaking his bib in no time. What is actually happening behind the scene is that as the teeth starts it upward journey; it catalyzes the production of saliva, which is why your baby drools so much.
Growth and development
Another reason behind the excessive drooling is that it helps babies to grow and develop. Strange as it may sound, it’s the truth. The saliva produced helps to neutralize stomach acid and helps to heal the lining of the esophagus that could get easily irritated from frequent spitting. Also, the drool contains some enzymes that would help your baby digest solid food when he is switched to adult food.
Now you know why your baby drools excessively. You may what to get him a Bandana Bib to help him stay dry all day.
